To attempt to find this evidence, keep firelights lit around the favourite room at low sanity. If hunts are suspended or only then happen from outside the area, this evidence can be ruled in with decent confidence.

If a hunt starts within 4 metres of a lit firelight, this can be ruled out. To be certain, rely on the fact that when a hunt is triggered, ghosts with this trait put out firelights with higher priority than burning crucifixes: put a crucifix right under one or more firelights. If the crucifix burns while at least one firelight right by it is still lit, this evidence can be ruled out.

Note that if the ghost blows out a firelight, it does not reset the hunt cooldown timer, unlike when a crucifix is burnt.
